We have a vacancy for 1 Occupational Therapist for 37 hours per week to join our Occupational Therapy Team within Assessment and Independence, DMBC.

Hours: 37 per week

Salary:  Grade 8

Location: Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge, DY8 2AA

Occupational therapists are invited to join a developing and diverse team that is forward-thinking and dynamic. We are working together with both Health and Social Care to smooth the transition from hospital to home, supporting people to stay in their homes for as long as possible, maximizing the role of the individual and informal carer changing people’s lives for the better. Working directly with care provision and enabling safe transition home from the hospital and residential care, prevention of hospital admission.

We are seeking Occupational Therapists who are proactive in their approach, open to change and enjoy the challenge of influencing and implementing new ways of working. You will support the team with this development and demonstrate the value of OT in your practice.

You will have a good knowledge of single-handed care and moving and handling technique and equipment

Part of the role will be central to the development of Assistants and students working within the team.

We are looking to extend the working week as the demand for services increases. Therefore weekend working is to be included on a rota basis.

You will be responsible for organizing and managing your own caseload. Part of the role will be central to the development of Assistants and students working within the team.

It is envisaged that all staff would participate in the core business of the Directorate. This includes the following examples, the discharge from hospital, prevention of admission to hospital, maximizing personal performance through rehabilitation, and maintenance of long-term care using the Singlehanded care philosophy. Knowledge and skills in moving and handling are essential.

The involvement in evidenced-based and service development projects to further enhance the clinical practice and service is actively encouraged.

All employees must ensure that they take reasonable care of their own health and safety as well as the health and safety of any person that is affected by their actions.
  • To be responsible for adhering to legislative requirements and Council Policies and Procedures including, but not exclusively health & safety, Data Protection, Confidentiality, and Internet/Email use

Relevant experience of working in the community,  with a sound and strong  working  knowledge of Manual Handling in a  community setting and  working awareness of Reablement.

To be flexible  Working on an ROTA basis over the weekend if the service is rolled out to operate for 7 days.

Ability to work under pressure and familiarity with M&H equipment for usage in a community context.

Working understanding of the latest Rehabilitation Pathways.
