The Role

Working with a team of surveyors responsible for a wide range of revenue and capital projects for clients both within and external to the Council. Building types and functions include those for Schools, Offices, Leisure, Libraries, Social Services, Fire Authorities, and other bodies who come under the Local Government Goods and Services Act. Challenging, interesting, driving profitability, with the tools and support you need to do a great job.

Working within our high quality, supportive Property Services Group (PSG), you will be working as part of a multi-disciplined, forward thinking, commercially aware team of building, mechanical and electrical surveyors and other professional staff, you will be assisting the Team Leader in the supervisory and administrative duties with respect to building services, specification and administration, together with other policy related issues.  Preparing specifications along with providing reactive maintenance and technical support to the Team Leader/Property Services Manager.

The preparation of estimates, specification writing for programmed and emergency works, preparation of working drawings, instructing contractors, supervision of works in progress, certifying contractors' accounts, including checking for quality, quantity, price and acceptability, inspection and general maintenance of property.

The Person

You will be an ambitious, qualified Surveyor who develops and promotes a proactive, supportive, close working relationship with service users, external contractors, suppliers and colleagues to ensure effective, timely delivery of projects.

It is key that this role offers predominately proactive but when required reactive support/response to customer needs.  Full training and support are provided.
