Grove Community Project is looking for an experienced and creative Early Years Practitioner to support the Teacher in delivering excellent practice across the Early Years Foundation Stage. The candidate will be part of a small team of practitioners at an excellent nursery within an established children’s charity in Handsworth, Birmingham.
The nursery offers high quality childcare and early years learning opportunities to 64 children aged 2 to 5 years old.
Most children attend the 32-place nursery part-time. We follow the Reggio Emilia approach to early years education where the expressive arts and the surrounding environment play a central role in learning and children are encouraged to use language to investigate, explore and reflect on their experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
• supporting the Teacher in delivering excellent practice across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• contribute in raising the quality of early years provision, including physical, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for children in the setting
• contribute to Planning activities and arranging resources
• help to Identify children with SEN and to support and monitor SEN and Early Support Plans, working alongside other agencies as appropriate
• a detailed understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures
• promoting the Reggio Emilia approach to early years education
• parent/carer liaison
Key skills and experience:
• Level 3 in childcare and education or above
• GCSE English and Maths, good written/spoken English
• considerable relevant experience of the full age range from two to five
• detailed knowledge of the EYFS
• experience of working with children with SEN – SENCO and documentation
• to be a Key Worker to children and be confident in carrying out observations and assessments
• understanding of and commitment to the Reggio Emilia approach (desirable)
