About the role

We are looking to recruit a Placement Finder to join our busy but rewarding team where all placements are found for Looked After Children, both planned and crisis-led. Your principal duties will be to support placement searches processes from start to finish including fostering, residential and supported accommodation searches. You will collaborate with social workers to identify suitable placements for children in care to enable the best outcome for them. Part of the role will involve covering duty at least 1 day per week which involves dealing with same day placement searches until they are resolved.

What you’ll bring

• Passion and commitment to identifying well-matched placements for Staffordshire’s looked after children

• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment given the nature of the role

• Review information contained in the Placement Referral form relating to children requiring placements to ensure the information is good and current. Where there are gaps additional information is requested and analysed.

• Identify suitable in-house resource as placement of first choice, where appropriate, ensuring that the foster carer has the skills and ability to meet the needs of the looked after child.

• Work independently undertaking Risk and Match exercises in relation to Looked After Young People requiring Placements.

• Identify clearly where there are potential shortfalls or concerns in the placement offered and identifying remedial action.

• Work in partnership with colleagues in residential to ensure that all placement requests are dealt with and the best possible, appropriate placements are identified.

• Liaise with children’s social workers, fostering social workers and team managers and foster carers to gather and disseminate up to date information to ensure a good and appropriate match.

• Liaise with Independent Fostering Agencies, Residential Providers and Support Accommodation providers to identify suitable placements for looked after children.

This Authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
