A highly stimulating and a career defining opportunity for an economic regeneration professional to play a leading role in developing and implementing Dudley’s inward investment and business support offering.

This is an exciting time to be joining Dudley Council. Dudley and the Black Country have a long history of providing world-class manufacturing and engineering and continue to provide the perfect economic conditions for advanced manufacturing. Dudley is seeing significant investment with work on a £1 billion pound programme of investment in the borough gathering pace which includes the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro Extension.

Dudley Business First, the Council's inward investment and business support team, will play a crucial role in ensuring that local businesses benefit from the planned investment as well as attracting new investment to the DY5 Enterprise Zone. The team also work closely with both public and private sector business support organisations to provide a package of support to new and existing businesses to grow and prosper within the borough.

As the Inward Investment & Business Support Officer, you will project manage inward investment and business support projects, programmes and events to support the current and future needs of local businesses and attract inward investment in order to maximise the economic opportunities for Dudley Borough.

This will involve proactively engaging with a wide range of public and private stakeholders to provide access to finance, land/property, recruitment, external funding/grants, planning, and business rates support as well as project specific issues. You will also lead on the implementation and development of the Dudley Business First and DY5s websites, and the customer relationship management system, providing business intelligence and management information reports to inform Dudley’s economic regeneration strategy.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in:

  • Providing support to new and existing companies including preparation of business plans and funding applications etc.
  • Providing specialist property and relocation support to businesses
  • Actively promoting and marketing an economic area/region to increase investment and regeneration
  • Performance management in economic regeneration related activity and the ability to analyse and interpret complex data
  • Working in multi-disciplinary regeneration teams with both public and private sector partners

Equally important will be your strong stakeholder and project management and communication skills.
