The Role

We are a busy, friendly, well supported legal team serving Worcestershire County Council in a beautiful and conveniently situated location in Worcester. We provide a high quality and well-regarded service to our users and now need to recruit a Debt Recovery/Litigation Lawyer.

We are looking for a Solicitor or Barrister, from those newly qualified to those with significant experience as Debt Recovery/Litigation Lawyer. You will advise the Centralised Debt Recovery Team on a number of related matters across all Directorates of the Council and Worcestershire Children First (WCF).

Advocacy is an essential part of the job and you will appear in the Small Claims and County Court on a regular basis. At the moment all posts are hybrid-working with a minimum of 2 days working in the office and the remaining 3 working from home with full wrap around technological support. The post holder will have the support of a legal assistant and a legal clerk.

Are you an excellent communicator, able to meet tight deadlines and with good analytical skills? If so, we would like to hear from you. In return you will have the support of a committed and experienced team around you. We also offer a generous benefits package, which includes a flexi-time scheme, career average pension, child care vouchers and a relocation scheme in appropriate cases, as well as an edge-of-city location, very close to the M5.

If you wish to discuss the position in more detail then please contact Catherine Hitchman (Principal Solicitor, Adults, Education & debt Recovery) on Tel: 01905 846486

• 25 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays
• 35-hour working week with Hybrid Working
