Telford and Wrekin Council
We are recruiting two educational psychologist posts to our expanding team.
- One specialist practitioner for SEMH
- One maingrade EP
Our team is highly valued by the council, schools and other strategic partners. Our traded work with schools is varied and we have extended the EPS into the community through exciting working partnerships with Health and Social Care, allowing us to work directly with families through Parent Carer Forum referrals and alongside Strengthening Families. As a team, we are always surveying the horizons and actively seeking new and innovative ways of working to support young people and their families.
Specialist Practitioner for SEMH (0.4 SEMH Specialist duties 0.6 team)
Soulbury Scale A pts 2 -7 £40,136- £49,714 (plus up to 3 SPA available)
This post provides an exciting opportunity to think about, develop and implement a well-being strategy which focuses on how we ensure children experience the childhood’s they need to thrive, and to address the mental health crisis children are experiencing through a preventative model. This approach to SEMH would allow for strategies and projects around play, the arts, food, physical activity, the natural world, community connection and all other essential experiences for children. We currently have some exciting projects in these areas and now need an EP who shares our vision, to join us to shape and lead the strategy. We are seeking an EP who wants an opportunity to develop an innovative, holistic and preventative approach to promote the well-being of all children. Our aim would be for Telford to have the happiest children in the UK, and we’d like to utilise psychology to lead this.

We are seeking an EP who is creative about what applied psychology can achieve to promote inclusion, overcome barriers and improve the lives of children. Who thinks critically and reflectively about their own work, the role of the EP and the systems we work within, and who views the role of the EP as a holistic child psychologist working to promote well-being for all children.
You must be HCPC registered, awaiting confirmation of HCPC registration, or on a recognised professional educational psychology training course in your second or final year of training.
We offer:
