One-to-one support assistant
King Edward VI College, Stourbridge is a sixth form college and a member of the Heart of Mercia Trust. The college specialises in the delivery of A levels for 16- to 19-year-olds, offering a broad curriculum with extensive enrichment opportunities. We require a full-time one-to-one support assistant to provide support to an ambitious and highly capable female student requiring specialist support whilst enrolled at King Edward VI College from 1 September 2022. This is a fixed term position which is due to end 31 August 2024.
The post holder will support one student who has a diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy (type 2), a neuromuscular degenerative condition that results in general muscle weakness, poor head control, and scoliosis. The student will require a high level of support both in the classroom and for personal care and will be supervised at all times. Due to the personal care required for the female student, there is a requirement for the appointed candidate to be female.
The one-to-one support assistant plays a vital role in assisting the learning and personal development of the student to enable her to make the best use of the educational opportunities available to her.

This is a fixed term, full-time, term-time only post subject to the conditions of service handbook of the Sixth Form Colleges Association. Salary will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges Association support staff pay scale 11 - 15 which is currently £19,524.54 – £21,991.75 per annum for term-time only, based on 37 hours per week.
