Required immediately or as soon as possible, King Edward VI School, Lichfield is seeking to appoint a friendly, responsible and independent Janitor to provide a key role in locking and securing part of the school buildings each evening Monday – Friday between the hours of 5.30 – 7.00pm during term time. However, on occasion, you may also be asked to support with evening events, call outs and cover for sickness and holidays so being flexible with time would be ideal.

Duties to include checking heating and lighting; fire and security alarms.  Ensure premises are in a safe, tidy and satisfactory condition. Maintain vigilance for Health and Safety concerns around the outside of the buildings. This post would maybe suit someone as an additional job to their current post.

The post holder would need to be reliable, conscientious and thorough and have attention to detail when securing the building as having the safety of the buildings is paramount. You must be able to relate to both students and staff and would report to the Site Manager.

We are particularly looking for candidates that can demonstrate:

  • Good organising, planning and prioritising skills Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions To work on their own initiative Ability to relate well to students and to adults Strong time management skills
