Are you an enthusiastic, reliable and self-motivated Senior Technician (Science) looking for a position in an outstanding school full of well-behaved and hardworking pupils? Our friendly, welcoming school is looking to appoint a person to work alongside our science team to support the achievement of outstanding outcomes for our pupils. Selly Park Girls’ School is a high performing 11-16 school in the south of Birmingham with 760 girls on roll and a proven record of GCSE success. We are a successful, vibrant, happy and oversubscribed school. We consistently rank as one of the top 10 Local Authority schools in Birmingham in terms of student progress and have been rated as outstanding by Ofsted for over a decade. The school has been judged as significantly above the UK average in terms of progress for the past three years, consistently scoring within the top 20% of schools nationally. This role provides effective and timely support to all teaching staff in the Science department. The post holder will prepare and provide all materials for lessons, ensure stock levels are maintained, ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to, undertake administration tasks, cleaning of equipment and facilities and make regular checks of all equipment. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with fellow staff members and pupils. Previous experience within a similar role working in a school environment would be beneficial but not essential. The appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS, medical clearance and suitable references will need to be provided. This is a permanent position, offered on a full-time basis, 36.5 hours a week during term time, plus 2 addition weeks with the expectation these be 2 days before the start of each term. The working hours will be Monday – Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Flexibility will be required in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
