Are you a Graduate in a Building Services/Construction or Surveying based subject? Solihull Council are currently recruiting for Graduate opportunities within Corporate Property Services, starting in Summer/Autumn 2022.

These 24 month fixed term graduate internships are a great opportunity to gain exposure to a forward thinking local authority; helping to improve lives and services for the residents of Solihull.

As a graduate based in our Corporate Property Services Team within the Resources Directorate you will gain broad experience of working within a Public Sector organisation and the Construction industry. Working alongside experienced Surveyors, you will be responsible for a range of property maintenance and repairs services at Council premises within the Borough.

Our Corporate Property Services Team are a team of professionals specialising in Property Maintenance; Reactive Repairs, Cyclical Servicing, Planned and Minor Works.

The portfolio of buildings includes public sector buildings; social housing, schools, academies and corporate buildings. The team form part of the Authorities Corporate Landlord structure providing all Hard Facilities Management as well as operating a highly successful trading arm providing services to external clients.

You will have:

  • A degree in a construction, building services or surveying subject and an interest in pursuing a surveyor career path.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role and responsibilities of a local authority.
  • Experience of analysing, interpreting, and summarising varied information from a variety of sources and providing clear recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise reports and prepare and deliver effective presentations.
  • Basic knowledge of computer aided design and construction software
