We have two new exciting opportunities to join our Development Management team here at Solihull Council.

  • Assistant Planning Officer. In this role you will support the Development Management team in the processing of planning applications, producing relevant documentation and providing excellent customer service to our customers, stakeholders and elected members about the status of planning applications that have been submitted to Solihull Council.
  • Assistant Planning Enforcement Officer. In this role you will help investigate alleged breaches of planning control and engage with local communities to help us deliver and maintain high quality environments and development through the planning process.

​We are currently negotiating the complexities of delivering a revised Local Plan and we are also working hard to do what is needed to welcome the arrival of HS2.  Ensuring we are maintaining our historic and natural landscape, and delivering the design quality, community benefits and green and blue infrastructure that only the best development in the right locations can, is all part of the job.

​With such a big agenda, we are looking for candidates who can provide a prompt and timely end to end planning service and can undertake site visits by car to investigate and act upon alleged breaches of planning control. 

To join us we ask that you can demonstrate a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade A-C/4-9 (or equivalent).  You will need to be customer focussed, engaging, confident and dynamic with a can-do approach to your area of interest or expertise to help us rise to the challenge.

We see our career graded Assistant Officer roles as the first steps into becoming a modern planner and will provide you with appropriate training and support to shape and develop your career further.
