Solihull Council is looking for top notch communicator to join its central communications team, working closely with Employment and Skills. This post is offered as a temporary position until March 2024.  It is funded by the European Social Fund and this funding will have to be recognised in all communications activities.  

As Communications Officer, you will be supporting the Employment & Skills team with a varied mix of PR and marketing, with a little consultation and engagement thrown in. You will be developing communications strategies, delivering campaigns and planning activities to help people find employment and training opportunities and achieve their career aspirations.  There are a number of targets associated with this project and the post-holder’s work will focus on supporting the project team to meet them. 

You will need to have excellent communication skills; experience of working in complex organisations and be looking for a new challenge.

The post offers a flexible work pattern as it is part-time, 30 hours per week and will allow the post-holder to design a work pattern to fit around any existing commitments.  

We are currently implementing our Smarter Ways of Working as we recognise that work is what you do and not necessarily where you go.  Our aim is to balance the needs of our employees with service delivery and, for this role, that is likely to include a combination of working from home and from our offices in central Solihull, including the Solihull Recruitment and Training Centre in Chelmsley Wood around one day each week.
