As Senior Procurement Lead Officer, you’ll provide best practice procurement advice and support the Procurement Business Partner in managing expectations of key stakeholders and implementing strategic change.
You’ll lead a team of procurement professionals and will be accountable for the delivery of all procurement projects across the organisation.
Procurement plays a key role in the delivery of a wide variety projects in areas such as transport, housing, Rail, Midland Metro and Professional Services – to name a few.

What will you be doing?
- Lead a team to deliver saving opportunities, ensuring that objectives and success criteria are identified and delivered in line with client expectations
- Establish appropriate demand management processes across WMCA to record and maintain a pipeline of current and forthcoming tender activity
- Drive the delivery of Social Value and Real Living wage into all procurement strategies, tender documents and contracts
- Promote importance of procurement across business units and best practice through continuous improvement so that procurement processes are effective in delivering WMCA’s objectives
We’re looking for commercially minded Procurement professionals who are working at a similar level or are ready to take the next step in their career.
A pro-active individual who can lead and develop a team, knows how to get things done and has a track record of delivering against objectives.
You’ll be well versed with end to end procurement practices, comfortable with developing procurement strategies and confident when talking to senior managers and negotiating with third parties.
A confident communicator, with the ability to present information, proposals and ideas that engage the audience and clearly communicate the benefits of change.
