The IT department, much like the school, is developing to meet the needs of modern-day learning by supporting the stakeholders within the school environment. A brilliant opportunity for an aspiring/existing Senior IT Technician to join a thriving ICT team in the secondary education sector. The right candidate will play a vital role within a well-established ICT department.

Role Overview

As the Senior ICT Support Officer, you will report directly to the IT Manager. You will be responsible for maintaining hardware, software and providing technical support.

A varied and interesting role, this position will involve working with a variety of staff and students across the organisation and will suit someone with excellent customer service. This position may involve working outside normal school hours, so flexibility is essential.

You will be based at Holy Trinity in Small Heath as your home school. Holy Trinity is a founding member of St Teresa of Calcutta MAC and since its formation has supported other primary schools in the MAC. Holy Trinity is a key contributor to the MAC shared IT service and the school is an exemplar of the MAC’s collaborative ethos. At least 1 day per week (term time) will be supporting a primary school in the MAC and all primary schools are extremely close by (within approx. 3 miles of Holy Trinity), the central geographic location of Holy Trinity is ideal.

Responsibilities:

· maintaining all hardware including all network, servers, workstations, and printers

· provide 1st/2nd/3rd line technical support as required by teachers, students and support staff

· detect and resolve any issues with PCs, tablets and printers

· build/use network images to deploy PCs and laptops

· deploy, install and upgrade applications (local and web based)

· install essential software patches

· install and configure switches and routers

· implement network and security policies

· maintain all hardware, software and user accounts

· manage access rights and email system

· resolve user problems through troubleshooting

· maintain backup systems, AV equipment, printers and manage server storage

· maintain an accurate hardware register

· maintain school/MAC websites

· support school events/extra-curricular activities

· support and contribute to any ICT improvement plans and help to deliver ICT training

· spot threats to information security and be actively involved in the resolution of any threats

· negotiate with suppliers in order to purchase equipment and software when requested

· commensurate duties at the discretion of Headteacher and IT Manager
