What you’ll do:

  1. Provide invaluable advice, support and guidance

The People Services team deliver all kinds of people-related advice, programmes, and projects across the Council. To help us achieve that, you will work with managers and colleagues on employee relations issues, change management (including TUPE) and organisational development activities.

You will evaluate requests for support and plan action to ensure people-related issues get resolved in a timely, efficient way using informal/early resolution where possible. You’ll coach managers to address situations quickly and sensitively. In fact, you’ll be there for managers in lots of ways: from supporting them with job design to supporting on workplace investigations and employee relations issues to providing expert advice at formal hearings.

2. Make positive change across the organisation

Here, your positive influence will be felt far beyond your immediate team. As someone who’s always looking to improve how things are done, you’ll take a coaching approach and deliver workshops on employee relations and change management. You will work to ensure our managers have the knowledge, skills and understanding to operate key People policies and processes. Hands-on and proactive, you’ll gather and analyse people-related data to spot trends or areas of concern. That way, you’ll be able to suggest how and where we can make improvements that everyone will benefit from.  At the same time, you’ll keep an eye on the bigger picture and ensure that our People practices are compliant and relevant.

Whether you’re building strong relationships with People Operations Manager, Strategic People Partners, collaborating with multi-agency partners or helping to produce accurate reports for the People Leadership Team, you’ll instil confidence in everyone you work with – and be a credible voice around Staffordshire County Council.

3. Provide an accountable service

What you’ll need

To apply for this role, you’ll need:

  • CIPD or an equivalent degree level qualification Active membership of CIPD, with this position working at Associate level Excellent knowledge of current employment legislation, case law and good HR practice Extensive experience of HR within a large, unionised organisation Experience in successfully delivering and supporting on a range of change projects Understanding and experience of managing TUPE, change and redundancy programmes

Interview dates – First stage:    6 or 8 July 2022

Interviews will be conducted via MS Teams and we’ll fully explain each stage as you progress to ensure you understand how you are being assessed and how you can prepare.
