With such diversity, size and complexity of Birmingham City Council, the opportunity for procurement to add value is huge.  In addition with a recently re-structured Corporate Procurement Service we are engaged on a number of exciting programmes and key initiatives across the City including the Commonwealth Games, Clean Air Zone, through to key service areas like children’s services, adults social care, transportation and waste management, all in addition to the major redevelopment work that is ongoing across the city.

This new job opportunity within the Council’s Corporate Procurement Service further builds on a recent successful round of recruitment.  The right candidates will have the chance to work in a Service with one of the widest reaches, supporting a full spectrum of services across the entire organisation.  In a pivotal role, you’ll work with internal colleagues and external organisations, to ensure partnership, efficiency, innovation and show commitment to providing service excellence on behalf of the City. You’ll have the chance to make Birmingham a better place for our communities and contribute to its future.

The roles are offered on an agile and flexible basis to suit the candidate’s needs, including, working fully remotely, office based, hybrid work from home.  Moving forward this plan includes a continued approach to flexible and remote working.

Contributing to our vision of being ‘A proactive and professional Procurement Service which is committed to ensure every pound spent by the Council delivers excellence by creating opportunity and benefits for the citizens of Birmingham’, the successful applicant  will assist in providing professional, legally compliant advice and support to deliver robust procurement processes and commercial outcomes for the designated category which achieves value for money. Undertaking tendering and contract management activity within the Corporate team. High customer satisfaction will be a must!
