Birmingham is in an unprecedented period of transformational change. As a consequence of the City’s economic growth, regeneration and transformation there has been a significant increase in street works activity on our highway network. It is anticipated that there will be further major utility works, new developments, and transportation projects over the coming years in order to accommodate future growth.
The successful candidate will become an integral part of the New Roads & Street Works Permit Team. They will assist the Highways Network Manager in the delivery of a coordinated, planned and effective response to the Network Management Duty across the whole organisation as contained within the requirements of the Traffic Management Act 2004; and assist the Strategic Traffic Management function to proactively balance this responsibility with the delivery of major transportation and regeneration projects for the Council, GBSLEP, WMCA and private developers.
The postholder will report to the Highways Network Manager. They will be closely linked to the Strategic Director of City Operations and play a vital role in providing trusted guidance and advice to the Assistant Director, Highways and Infrastructure; and Cabinet Members.
