The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher of Geography to KS4 level, who is also committed to facilitating high levels of student engagement and academic progress, creating a stimulating and positive classroom ethos and fostering independent and collaborative student-led learning.  

Geography is a well-liked subject at Langley and GCSE up-take is always high.  We are a very pupil focused department, offering high levels of support. We aim to have high standards and expectations, while fostering sound relationships between staff, students and parents.  We offer a progressive scheme of work, with a clear pathway from KS3, forming a solid foundation for the KS4 AQA GCSE course. Our curriculum is balanced, comprising of physical and human Geography. Lessons are varied, with teachers using a range of teaching and learning strategies – these include enquiries, mysteries and skills-based tasks. Students are given time to discuss their work through paired, group or whole class discussion and questioning. There are opportunities for independent learning as well as group work.  

Fieldwork promotes geographical knowledge and understanding by creating a link between theories and the real world so a commitment to supporting extra-curricular activities would be welcomed.
