Job Details

This role is fixed term for 12 months.

Sandwell’s Prevention Stores delivers / maintains / services equipment and assistive technology to enable the people of Sandwell to live as independently as they can within their home environment. You will be in contact with people who have infectious diseases including Covid-19. Full PPE will be provided.

As an important front line service working alongside a range of Health & Social Care Services, we are looking to expand our pool of Equipment Technicians who are responsible for a range of different functions within the service.

We have 12 month fixed term posts x 3 available and we are especially looking for candidates who have experience, knowledge or an interest in the following areas: 

  • The delivery, installation, collection of community equipment such as specialist bed, hoists and other equipment provided to help maintain a person’s independence
  • Driving duties throughout the borough

You will be required to have Literacy Level 2 qualification or equivalent as a minimum and to undertake Level 2 Trusted Assessor training or equivalent in the safe and appropriate use and fitting of basic daily living equipment. You must hold a full driving license.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake a driving assessment to operate the Council's fleet vans.

You will also be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure Check.

Location: The service covers all locations across the borough and operates from a central building in Tipton.

The service operates 7 days a week (standard hours), including Bank Holidays and successful candidates will be required to work on a rota basis with each post holder required to work weekends as part of their working week.

37 hours per week
