Sutton School is a purpose-built day school for pupils aged 11-16 whose educational needs cannot adequately be met in mainstream schools. Situated towards the centre of Dudley borough, the school caters for approximately 180 pupils with a range of needs in relation to ‘communication and interaction’ and ‘cognition and learning’.

The vast majority of our pupils join the school in Year 7 and as a result benefit by building strong relationships with their peers throughout their time at school. In order to support this positive aspect of school life, we admit few pupils other than through the normal Year 6 transition process, this being managed in partnership with the SEND Team in the Local Authority.

The school has excellent facilities which include generously proportioned well equipped classrooms, a Science laboratory, Art room, Design Technology workshop including provision for motor vehicle studies, Food Technology room, fully networked 1-2-1 ICT capability, a Library resource base and a fully equipped Performing Arts hub.

Our vision is to provide every member of the school community with the opportunity to achieve his or her true potential and ambitions. This is achieved through a broad, balanced curriculum matched to pupil’s individual needs including entitlement to the National Curriculum. The environment we create is stimulating and challenging yet supportive, secure and caring. Pupils are taught in an atmosphere of positive recognition where each person’s individuality and talents receive encouragement and nurture.

We endeavour to bring out the best in our pupils so that they mature into adults capable of an independent life which will be personally rewarding and of service and benefit to their local communities. We are passionate about and proud of our school community, together we make a great team and invite you to consider whether you would like to be part of Suttons future.

The role of Learning Facilitator is key to the success of our school. Working closely under the guidance of teaching staff you will work with individuals and groups of pupils in or out of the classroom including the provision of detailed and specialist skills/knowledge in particular areas.

In addition, as a Learning facilitator you have opportunity to assist the teacher in the whole planning cycle and supervise whole classes or groups during the short-term absence of a teacher.  The role is hugely important in helping our pupils strive for success, overcome their personal challenges, and achieve their potential. It is therefore not only challenging and hard work, but also immensely rewarding.

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.

Demonstrable experience of working with or caring with children of a relevant age and experience of supporting teaching staff in the development and education of pupils.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children; therefore the post is subject to medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check.
