Walsall Childrens Residential Services are looking for the right people to fill two part time Housekeeper posts in the following settings:

  • Bluebells childrens short Breaks Service
  • Residential children’s home

Both post are part time - 20 Hours per week.  

If you have experience of domestic duties in a professional setting (including cooking and cleaning) then this may be a great opportunity for you.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an all-round ability to be flexible, hardworking, have an eye for detail and high standards. They will be fully confident in working on their own initiative whilst also able to work alongside the care team within the setting.

The Role:

The role of the Housekeeper within a childrens residential setting should not be underestimated in relation to helping to create and maintain a homely environment for children and young people.

As Housekeeper, you will help to maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment. This will involve general cleaning duties associated with a domestic setting including washing, drying and ironing laundry.  Alongside the residential care staff, you will also help to plan, prepare and provide nutritious and homely meals to meet the needs of the children.

The role also involves shopping (including online) for domestic provisions such as food and cleaning materials and undertaking tasks to ensure that all requirements of the food standards agencies are adhered to within the setting.

Our homes can accommodate children up to 18 years of age.  Due to the nature of this post, the DFE minimum standard states that an employee must be four years older than the oldest resident therefore applicants must be 22 years of age or older.
