Job Title: Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Child (UASC) Social Worker
Location: Office is based in Worcester with travel across Birmingham
Contract: 9 months – (Fixed Term contract)
Hours: 37 hours
Salary: Up to £42,336 per annum – this includes £4000 market forces payment and £3000 retention payment. PLUS £3000 welcome payment*


The role:

You will be working with a case load of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and supporting them as looked after children.  There will also be some duty work with, set times when you will respond to new arrivals completing initial assessments and accommodating children when needed.  You will also support other social workers in the team who have less experience of this client group and be actively involved in practice development and helping to improve the practice with regards to these young people across the organisation.
 

About you:

The successful candidate should have a background in working with this client group or a keen interest in this and be able to advocate for and support young people through the looked after process. They will be able to ensure that statutory duties are completed to a good standard and in timescale.  They will be able to identify gaps in the service and work with their manager and partners to address these and improve practice. They will be flexible and responsive and able to work independently and balance the planned part of the role alongside the unpredictability of working with new arrivals
