This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that is focussed on meeting the needs and improving outcomes for children and families who experience special educational needs.
Your Role
As a SEND Family Practitioner Lead you will be part of the District Team and Central SEND and Inclusion Team. You will lead and manage a team of SEND Key Workers and range of other professionals, to ensure that your team discharge Staffordshire County Council’s Statutory duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in relation to the Children and Families Act, SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act and other relevant legislation and Codes of Practice.

As a leader and manager for SEND in your locality, you will lead and contribute to local panels at which complex decisions are made regarding Educational Health and Care Needs Assessments. You will be a child and family focussed professional who understands the relevant law and is also committed to ensuring the best outcomes for the community you serve. You will also be required to contribute to County decision making panels and the overall County strategy for SEND.

The District and SEND Inclusion Teams are home to a range of professionals working toward improving outcomes for children, young people and their families. We are locality based and believe that knowing our community means that we can respond more effectively to the challenges children and families experience. In this role, you will have a specific focus on special educational needs, but our primary focus is on inclusion and maximising outcomes for children and their families.
What you will bring
We are looking for a colleague who;
- Understands and can support their team to navigate the complex world of SEND education legislation, including the Children and Families Act, SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act Is driven to improve outcomes for children and young people who experience needs related to SEND Is person-centred in their work and takes a restorative approach to their interactions with children, families, and other partners Has exceptional written, inter-personal and communication skills Is highly organised, and able to manage their work to meet statutory deadlines
Above all, you will be a professional who is able to listen, hear the views of others, build relationships with key stakeholders, and find solutions to challenges.
