We are looking to recruit two Selective Licensing (Housing) Officers to join a highly motivated team that deals with all aspects of the designated Selective Licensing areas within the Borough. This is a fixed term opportunity for 2 years commencing in September 2022.

The role entails assessing and processing of applications, the undertaking of detailed surveys to ensure compliance with the licensing conditions, investigation of service requests, provision of advice and joint working with tenants, landlords, residents and external agencies. You will also be required to prepare reports for legal action including the presentation of evidence.

You must have a GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English and have completed the 2 day HHSRS competency assessment or equivalent training course.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate practical experience of giving specialist and technical advice, guidance and assistance to others within the subject matter of Housing. You should have an ability to interact effectively with the public, local communities, local stakeholders, other agencies and public bodies, including dealing with difficult people and situations. You must be able to demonstrate experience of undertaking inspections and investigating complaints, and completing associated paperwork. A proven track record of evidence gathering with analytical, problem-solving skills and an ability to organise and prioritise work to achieve your own workload and meet targets are also key. Good negotiation and conflict management skills are essential.

Full-time or part-time working patterns are available.
