Adult Care Commissioning is moving at pace to deliver an exciting and challenging portfolio of projects to deliver our vision for the future. In order to meet the challenges we face, we are recruiting for a Commissioning Officer Post within the Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, Autism and Carers Team in Health and Care.

 

About the role

 

Our Team - This team focuses on Improving Outcomes for People with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Mental Health aged 18-64 and Carers of all ages in Staffordshire.

 

Our role - This team has a strong reputation in the Council and beyond for the way team members engage with partner organisations and wider stakeholders, including service users and families to influence the wide range of services the Council provides and also commissions for the 18-64 year old age group and for carers. The team also drives the development and implementation of key strategies such as the Whole Life Disability Strategy and the Mental Health Strategy. All team members take responsibility and ownership for key programmes, but also flex and adapt to changing responsibilities across the team’s portfolio and wider Care Commissioning priorities. Our aspirations are to build on the following:

 

  • finding innovative and creative solutions to problems exploring the opportunities that digital innovation offers social care making the most of research, latest intelligence and best practice building on the assets / strengths that people have outcome-based commissioning developing further our approach to co-production

 

 

What you’ll bring - The postholder will be expected to cover the following work programme in the coming year:

  • Drive the review and improvement of quality assurance of our independent day opportunities market. Development of an improved supported employment offer for people who may need support in gaining and maintaining employment. Manage day to day operation of the contractual arrangements for day opportunities Support wider strategy and market-shaping work, key partnership work and/or other key projects in line with the team’s priorities.

 

 

To support this, we are seeking an individual with the following:

 

  • Qualifications: Educated to degree/HND standard or possessing an equivalent professional qualification or equivalent by experience. Experience and knowledge: Demonstrable experience and understanding of commissioning services - ideally including prior experience of strategic planning and contract commissioning to meet the needs of individuals that fall within the portfolio of the Team’s responsibilities. Skills: We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic, innovative, adaptable, resilient, self-motivated, critical thinker, who can manage busy caseloads, meet tight deadlines and is not afraid to change the status quo. You will work well in partnerships and be just as confident working with data and analysis as people; including those who access care and support services, the care providers and the wider workforce.
