Building Operative Apprentice - Ref: RT04322

National Minimum Wage (for age):

23 and over: £9.50 per hour
21 to 22: £9.18 per hour
18 to 20: £6.83 per hour
Under 18: £4.81 per hour

Do you have an interest in developing a career in Facilities Maintenance?  Does working towards a qualification while gaining hands on experience appeal to you? 

If so then we have a great opportunity for an Apprentice within our Facilities Management Team at Walsall Council which would provide the chance to gain skills, experience and knowledge in a busy service area whilst working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

As an apprentice you will:

  • work alongside experienced staff
  • gain job-specific skills
  • earn a wage and get holiday pay
  • study towards a related qualification

The successful candidate will learn and assist in all elements of facilities management including carrying out day to day repairs such as general building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical.

We are seeking an individual with GSCE (A-C) in English and Maths (or equivalent) or willing to work towards them as part of the apprenticeship, along with some knowledge of building services and safe working practices.

The Qualification Apprentice Standard attached to this apprenticeship opportunity will require the appointed person to attend 1 day per week at Walsall College.

This opportunity is offered as a Fixed Term contract for 15 months. Start date will be the 29th August 2022.
