Deputyship Officer  

 

Salary: G6 £21,269 - £23,953 per annum (pro rata)

 

37 Hours per week – Permanent based in Staffordshire Place 1, Stafford

 

Responsible to:  Deputyship & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Manager

 

The team’s Deputyship responsibilities are about ensuring that vulnerable adults who are incapable of managing their financial and property affairs (as defined by Section 1 of the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005) are protected from exploitation and wherever possible empowered to utilise their resources in ways which accord with their wishes, beliefs and lifestyles.

 

About the role

 

We have a hardworking and busy administrative team which ensures that client’s finances are well managed in their best interests.  As a member of the team you will liaise closely with the client, their carers, family and friends to enable the client to live as independently as they can.  You will be responsible for managing all of the client’s finances including utility bills, bank accounts, occupational pensions, DWP benefits and investments.

 

What you’ll bring

 

The main duties of the role of Deputyship Officer function within Adult Social Care include:

 

  • An understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and how it applies to Deputyship
  • Knowledge of working with vulnerable adults who lack mental capacity to manage their own finances and property
  • To plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Experience of working in an administrative or finance function
  • Knowledge of benefits and pensions payable to service users by DWP etc
  • The ability and experience to operate a computer-based information system and use Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience of working with internal & external customers to provide an excellent quality service
