Job Details

We are looking to recruit an outstanding practitioner to join Warwickshire’s Specialist Teaching Service. This Service supports schools in their strategic response to meeting the needs of learners with cognition and learning, social emotional and mental health, as well as communication and interaction needs.

The Role

We are looking for experienced and skilled mainstream practitioners to work in a Service which has considerable experience of trading with schools over fifteen years.

This post requires the ability to be skilled, organised and flexible in a high-pressured environment.  We welcome candidates with a strong customer care ethos in supporting schools to meet the needs of vulnerable pupils. 

Key skills and requirements

Holding recognised qualification, relevant to the post, to NVQ Level 4 equivalent (or working towards one) and with recent successful experience working as Teaching Assistant (or similar role) with pupils who have barriers to learning

You will also have:

  • significant and successful post qualification mainstream experience with up to date knowledge and understanding of SEND effective practice and issues;
  • the ability to influence and support staff and leaders in schools and settings, promoting excellent, evidenced based practice to meet an increasingly diverse range of need and to influence practice at an earlier stage;
  • the experience and expertise to empower families and service users;
  • the ability to work under pressure, meeting unpredictable deadlines and managing competing demands effectively;
  • the ability to be part of the ‘team around the child’, working flexibly, to develop and share creative approaches, positively influencing the practice of others through training and coaching.
