We work with young people to encourage them to learn, to help them develop as people and to have inspirational experiences that they will remember for life. We run a range of creative programmes and need a team of flexible, motivational Youth Workers to support us deliver a range of exciting projects over the summer and beyond.

The post holder is expected to build upon the recent success of rebuilding the Youth Club and move beyond basic youth club provision. They should take an active role in planning, implementing, delivering and evaluating new activities. A creative and enthusiastic mindset is essential as we expect new and exciting content for the Pump as standard. Central to all activity should be the promotion of; personal and social development and empowerment of young people as well as functional skills (English, Maths, ICT). You will be expected to challenge negative behaviour and promote active engagement in a safe and supportive environment. Activities should be fun, informative, stimulating and engaging. You will have considerable individual control over programs and projects you wish to champion but are also expected to be a team player and work collaboratively with the music, fundraising, youth work and senior management teams.

We are looking for someone who is proactive and flexible to meet the demands of our busy programme and possesses a passion for working with young people. You will have experience of building new alliances and partnerships enabling us to expand our offer. Evening sessions run 5-8 pm on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday and will form the core of your delivery hours. We aim to balance informal and formal youth work activities within these sessions and you will have direct responsibility for ensuring this offer best meets the needs and wants of our young people. A creative and innovative mindset will be essential in order to bring new activities to the Pump, not only in their delivery but also in how we can evidence our success. We work with a range of funders so monitoring and evaluating our success against their objectives is absolutely crucial.
