Invictus Education Trust are recruiting for a Governance Officer required for 5th September 2022

25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only)

We are a Multi Academy Trust comprising of six secondary schools, one primary school, and two alternative provisions, with over 750 employees and over 5,500 students, based in Dudley, West Midlands.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust’s Central Team working as a Governance Officer. You will support the Head of Governance and Compliance and work closely with many key individuals at the heart of the governance process, ensuring effective governance practices throughout the Trust.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who is a forward thinker, can manage and prioritise competing demands, and work at pace.  The Governance Officer will provide governance support to our local School Governing Boards across the Trust, working effectively with Chairs of Governors, Headteachers, school leaders and governors to ensure that they fulfil their roles and responsibilities in relation to the Trust’s overarching governance arrangements, within the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation and Articles of Association.

In particular, the post holder will:  

  • Provide professional advice and guidance on governance related matters  
  • Ensure that governors are fully aware of their responsibilities and support them in fulfilling these  
  • Lead on governor recruitment, induction and training  
  • Undertake clerking duties for meetings as required including preparing focused agendas, high quality minutes and undertaking follow-up work  
  • Manage information and communications effectively and in accordance with legal requirements  
  • Assist with the development and delivery of Trust-wide governance briefings, communications and training  
  • Support the resolution of school-level complaints in accordance with the Trust’s Complaints Procedure  
  • Offer high quality administrative support commensurate to the role

The postholder should take considerable pride in their work and the strength of their working relationships. They need to be adaptable, work flexibly, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, use their own initiative, and have exceptional attention to detail.

A driving license is required and the postholder will need their own car, insured to cover business use.  Whilst our Headquarters in Kinver will be the postholder’s main base, hybrid working arrangements can be considered and hours of work will be agile to meet the needs of the business.  The postholder will need to work flexibly to support the needs of the Trust as some early evening work is required due to the nature of the role. 

An enhanced DBS plus Barred List (Children’s) check is required for this role.
