Academic Mentor/Intervention Tutor

32.5 hours per Week - Term Time only - Temporary until August 2023

Could you be an Academic Mentor enabling pupils in disadvantaged areas to grow in confidence and access targeted educational support?

We are looking for two Academic Mentors to join our staff team on a fixed-term contract from September 2022 – August 2023.

Our Academic Mentors will work solely with the aim of supporting our pupils whose learning has been most affected by the disruption of the pandemic. You will be working for 32.5hrs per week (term time only) to support interventions and catch up programmes to pupils across our school.

Your primary role will be to offer a tailored programme of support unique for our School and pupils. We are looking for candidates with an expertise in English and/or Maths.

The role:

  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to identify, create, prepare, deliver and monitor small group tutoring session within the school day.
  • Identify learning gaps and create bespoke interventions.
  • Deliver engaging sessions to support a range of learning styles with clear learning objectives.
  • Differentiate learning styles to take into account barriers to learning and/or additional needs. Derive measurable outcomes and track progress.
  • Demonstrate safeguarding standards in all practice.

The minimum qualifications for this role are either:

  • QTS or Degree qualified with Level 4 (grade C) in G.C.S.E in Maths and English

 

To support your performance as an Academic Mentor, in conjunction with the National Tutoring programme, we are able to offer our Academic Mentor a custom programme facilitated by Liverpool Hope University.  This is a one-week course for QTS or two-week course for Degree qualified applicants.

This is a full time (32.5hrs per week), fixed-term contract up to 31st August 2023

The salary ranges from £19,000 - £21,000 pro-rata (dependent on level of qualifications).
