The Edge Academy is an OFSTED ‘Good’ Alternative Provision Free School focused upon improving opportunities and outcomes for students who may be struggling to achieve their full potential in a mainstream setting. We aim to create a superb learning environment to transform the learning experience and outcomes for young people on the exclusion spectrum and we were delighted to win the 2022 Midlands Education Awards “Outstanding Support for Students Award”.
The Edge Academy are offering two exciting opportunities for the role of Teaching Assistant for a fixed term period of one academic year only, which will then be reviewed subject to funding.
Duties will include supporting a Year 11 student 1:1 and in class, some sessions will be offsite and may require some low level physical activity.
The main duties will be:
• working alongside other staff members to adapt and deliver the curriculum
• liaising with the class teacher re-the progress of the pupil
• delivering interventions on a 1:1 basis for speech and language, literacy and numeracy with guidance from staff
• being a positive member of the school staff and promoting our ‘Safe Ready Respectful’ ethos
We are looking to accept applications from people who:
• hold a relevant degree or a TA qualification
• have at least one years' school-based experience
• understand how to best support SEN
• are capable of understanding and adapting the curriculum
• can build relationships with pupils quickly and efficiently
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
