An exciting opportunity has risen to be part of the Fire Control Team for Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service.

 

About Us

 

When someone dials 999 and asks for the Fire and Rescue Service, they will be put through to a member of the Fire Control Team. Fire Control staff are the first line of contact between members of the public needing assistance and the Fire Service. Warwickshire Fire Control use an advanced mobilising system to ensure that firefighters are dispatched speedily to any incident they are required to attend.

 

We are looking for two apprentices to join our team who will study for a Level 3 in Emergency Service Contact Handling with Wakefield College (Delivery is via distance learning) – Link to course details

 

The Role

 

Based at our Headquarters in Leamington Spa, you’ll be joining our established team, initially working Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700hrs before moving to a flexible shift basis (which includes, days, nights, weekends, public holidays), taking responsibility for receiving 999 calls. Gathering as much information from the caller as possible you’ll evaluate the situation; decide on the best course of action; act as the link between Fire and Rescue and the caller.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

As you’ll be the first point of contact to callers dialling 999 for Fire and Rescue, it’s important that you can deliver a high standard of customer care to manage customer and service expectations.  You’ll need to be able to provide a high quality, professional service to customers by using clear communication, taking ownership of enquiries, and finding solutions. You’ll need to be able to work dynamically in a high-pressured situation with good analytic/problem solving skills.

The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
