Facilities Manager @ Leek High School
Position: Facilities Manager
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Fixed term with a view to becoming permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week, whole year
Pay: Grade Six: £21,269 - £23,953 per annum
Allowance: n/a
Location: Leek High School; however, you may on occasions be required to cover duties at other schools across the Trust
Reporting to: Head Teacher
The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining the school site which includes buildings, grounds and other facilities. These are all to be maintained and developed to a very high and consistent standard to satisfy the requirements of the School and all regulatory and statutory bodies. You will be accountable for decisions taken within your delegated authority. Whilst initial training will be provided enabling you to meet these standards, ongoing development of your knowledge and skills is an essential part of the role.
You must provide an appropriate safe and secure environment for the education of students and the safe, comfortable and effective work of all stakeholders, contractors and other visitors. You will promote and demonstrate Health and Safety in everything you do, leading by example and best practice at all times. As Facilities Manager you will have responsibility for managing a small team and associated contractor’s in-line with statute, appropriate guidance & best practice and within budget.
With responsibility for the site team, you must manage them effectively whilst also following/creating schedules of work for the year. You’re required to have considerable experience of maintenance tasks and trade skills enabling you to work confidently at a variety of tasks whilst also providing guidance and tuition to less experienced team members. You’re expected to be computer literate as you’ll need to use emails, access online portals and access/update electronic reports, etc. on a daily basis.
This post is well suited to someone who takes pride in their work, has an eye for detail and who is minded to seek out opportunities for improvements across the School. Team work and great communication skills are essential in this role as you’ll be regularly engaging with staff and students as you carry out your work.
