Directly responsible to: Policy Manager

Full time, 12 month fixed term contract

Location: Office of the Police and Crime Commissioners in West Midlands

We are seeking a newly graduated intern with a specific interest in policy work to provide support and capacity to the Policy and Commissioning Team within our office. The role will be for a 12-month basis and the successful candidate will be expected to be able to work in the centre of Birmingham at least 2 days a week.

This role will support policy agendas such as criminal justice or community safety and will have responsibility for implementing policy areas through partnership working, following up agreed actions and supporting meetings and events.  The candidate will learn how to implement strategy and how to turn ideas into concrete policy, and will work with stakeholders at all levels.

This role would suit an individual who has an interest in the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner and would use this opportunity to add capacity to our office, while gaining and developing valuable skills and experience in the public sector, working for a politician. The individual would have the opportunity to shadow the PCC, members of staff and understand and support some of our key priorities, and training will be provided where required.
