Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral Lead

L4-8 (£45,434 -£50,151)

Post commencing as soon as possible. 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional who wishes to make a critical difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable young people in our District. This is a new post in our structure and we are looking for somebody to further develop and lead the pastoral care of our secondary students. Therefore the purpose of the role is leading our secondary safeguarding culture, school wellbeing and student personal development ensuring that all our students are provided the care, nurture and support conducive to their learning. The role has a teaching requirement of PSHE and the ability to deliver science would be beneficial.

 

 

The Bridge Centre caters for students from Key Stages 1 to 4 who have been permanently excluded from school, suffer with medical conditions including anxiety and it also offers short programmes for students who are presenting challenging behaviour in their mainstream settings.

We would welcome applications from candidates with mainstream or special experience as we are seeking somebody who has the character, initiative and flexibility to meet the needs of our young people. The ideal candidate will understand the link between wellbeing and attainment combined with importance of relationships.

As a QTS practitioner the post holds key responsibilities in the structure of the school and the successful candidate will also be expected to make a significant contribution to the wider life of the school. 

We are therefore looking for someone who:

  • is an inspiring teacher and leader within their classroom who has a successful track record of working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. has a proven record of leading a team and/or whole school initiatives. has proven teaching excellence with a commitment to high standards has excellent communication skills, resilience and a sense of humour has energy, enthusiasm and a commitment to team working and supporting colleagues.            an empathetic communicator, who leads by example and builds positive relationships with students, parents/carers, staff and all other stakeholders has the personal character to lead outside of the classroom and contribute to the wider life of the school.
