Commercial Business Partner

Full time permanent position

The City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking to recruit a full-time Commercial Business Partner to join our dynamic and hardworking small commercial team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic commercial advice and developing commercial business cases, working on some of the Council’s most high-profile projects and strategic contracts to ensure that the Council’s interests are protected. Their work will need to lead to efficient and effective contractual outcomes from spend with third parties.

The successful candidate will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure that commercial areas are considered in decision making. They will also be expected to liaise and negotiate with external providers to obtain value for money in large contracts.  

There will be an opportunity to lead on some commercial negotiations as well as identify innovative commercial opportunities and brief senior officers as appropriate.

They will play a key role in raising commercial awareness across the Council. We require someone with significant strategic knowledge and experience of commercialisation, contract management and have an ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will need to be confident and innovative whilst understanding the ethos of the public sector.
