It’s an exciting time to join the Lawnswood Campus family as we embark on our journey to become ‘The Leading Light for Alternative Provision education in the UK’.  We require a passionate and committed Curriculum teacher at The Nightingale Home and Hospital Service to deliver English at Key Stage 3 and 4 including GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications.

Applicants will be expected to have:

  1. Experience of working with young people with SEMH and medical needs.
  2. A proven track record of good communication and organisation.
  3. An interest in all aspects of the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum and inspirational ways to deliver it.
  4. An understanding of health and safety and a willingness to attend training.
  5. Knowledge of the Primary curriculum


Job Overview: 

To create and deliver engaging lessons to a diverse groups of young people at all levels taking into account group and individual needs and learning styles. To inspire, motivate and promote enthusiasm for learning and for the subject, adhering to national curriculum standards. The teaching role forms a central part of the work within the subject area and the post holder will work closely with colleagues to support, develop and further extend the work of the subject and the experiences of the young people.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Teaching young people based on national curriculum guidelines within the specialist subject area.
  • Adapting and reassessing lesson plans to meet specific young people’s needs, complying with newly implemented guidelines or frameworks, and to update relevant information which may include new developments in education
  • Adapting the curriculum to meet young people’s needs while maintaining overall class progress
  • Assessing and reporting on academic levels, identifying gaps in learning and areas for improvement/intervention
  • Delivering appropriate qualifications to meet the needs of young people and ensure entries are relevant to maximise young people’s outcomes
  • Encouraging young people participation in lessons and in other school-related activities.
  • Providing a safe, positive learning environment for young people, promoting safety and respect for all
  • Supporting the leadership team to implement the Centre’s development plan
  • Assessing and reporting on the SEMH needs of young people
  • Providing educational and social guidance to young people and/or signposting them to specialist areas of advice where appropriate
  • Engaging in opportunities to boost personal learning and continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Communicating with parents and other relevant professionals where appropriate
