Democratic Services Manager

We are looking for someone exceptional to lead our Democratic Services Team, with responsibility for servicing of all Council Committees and running elections.  The team is at the heart of democratic decision making in our Council and works closely with the Management Team and the Head of Law and Governance.  You will also act as Deputy Returning Officer/Deputy Electoral Services Officer, whilst having the  option to hold the role of Returning Officer/ Electoral Registration Officer.

You will have experience of running a successful election and ensuring that Council committees run smoothly during the democratic year.  Political awareness will come naturally to you, and you will be skilled at building strong working relationships with both officers across the Council and elected members. You will be comfortable making decisions and giving advice under pressure, whilst maintaining diplomacy and tact at all times.
