Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service are recruiting full-time adult tutor in ICT/digital skills to join our existing team of good and outstanding staff.

The teaching role is essential to meet the changing demands of our diverse community. You will need excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a commitment to drive up the quality of the digital skills curricula to support the reforms within the digital skills entitlement. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to deliver subject content that is both classroom-based and using online platforms, including support strategies for learners undertaking blended learning.

The digital skills area is growing, and we would like you to teach subjects such as digital marketing and essential digital skills both online and classroom based. This will enable you to support the development of the curriculum area. Experience teaching and assessing vocational subjects would also be welcomed, this is a growing online area.

You will be required to work some evenings and weekends at various points of the year, predominantly during October when we take part in the national Family Learning Festival. Close team work within all curriculum areas including English and Maths, will be critical to the posts, as well as supporting within community learning to embed digital skills across a wide range of subjects.

The successful applicant will be required to hold a minimum level 3 teaching qualification, in ICT/Digital subject specialist qualification at least at level 3 (level 2 qualified in IT and experience may allow for some flexibility) and English/maths at least at functional skills level 2.

Applications are particularly welcome from adult tutors that have recent experience of working within other adult community learning organisations

Sandwell Adult and Family learning would welcome applicants who have a proven record of experience teaching adults 19+ in the following subject specialist areas;

  • ICT
  • Digital skills
  • Digital marketing

You will be expected to deliver and assess within your specialist area including, digital skills within the entitlement curriculum offer and community-based learning to adults and families from entry level through to level 2;

You will need to evidence your adult teaching hours for the past academic year, and hold an observation grade of good or outstanding. Knowledge of Ofsted, SAR, moderation, standardisation and RARPA would be a distinct advantage.

Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service has 3 main learning centres across Sandwell and the successful applicants will be based mainly at our Tipton centre. You will be required to travel between centres daily and travelling expenses can be claimed according to the SMBC approved mileage scheme. Successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS application for this role.

37 hours per week
