In addition to this, Lichfield is one of the finest Cathedral cities in the country, which offers an exciting challenge - protecting and enhancing a high quality environment while managing the delivery of sustainable economic growth.

Ideally situated in the heart of the Midlands, with our offices based in the historic centre of Lichfield, we are within easy reach of Birmingham and the District includes beautiful countryside, including an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This presents a broad range of development opportunities, challenges and pressures for the District. We offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements, essential car user allowance and payment of RTPI professional fees, together with generous annual leave entitlement, local government pension scheme and a positive approach to employee wellbeing.

This is a career graded post and the grade appointed at will be subject to satisfying relevant experience and criteria for the post band, as detailed in the attached Job Description & Person Specification. You will ideally be a qualified planner (MRTPI) or working towards this, with post qualification experience in development management, including within a Local Planning Authority. You should have a good knowledge of the planning system, excellent organisational and time management skills and be a good team player with the ability to negotiate on complex schemes. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, and an appreciation and understanding of urban design principles is needed in this role. Please note that a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is required, together with the appropriate business cover insurance.
