Duke of Edinburgh Tutor- Severndale Specialist Academy

Salary range Scale 6, from £13.18 per hour to £14.26 per hour
35 hours per week for 47 weeks of the year (Term time plus 3 weeks)

Severndale Specialist Academy is a multi-site Academy catering for children with special educational needs in Shropshire. Our children and young people can access Severndale Specialist Academy from Reception through to Sixth Form and have a range of learning difficulties.
What is the purpose of the role:
The main purpose of this role is to effectively coordinate a smooth running Duke of Edinburgh Award programme with the enthusiasm for the vision of the award in a Special Educational Needs environment.
Role requirements:
- Duke of Edinburgh Award Assessor qualification
- Basic Expedition Leader Award qualification or equivalent
- Current relevant First Aid qualification
- Willingness to undertake appropriate CPD
- Experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs
- Ability to motivate and inspire students with differing abilities and needs
Skills required:
- Ability to build good relationship with children, teachers and parents
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Demonstrate high levels of safety awareness
- Flexible approach to working environment
- Appropriate fitness levels to cope with the nature of the role
