Executive Support Officer
Customer Services is one of the largest departments in Coventry City Council and are the front face of the organisation. We are usually the first port of call for customer enquiries across the council. Our fast-paced telephone teams deal with thousands of calls and emails a week, we have a dynamic Customer Service Centre with around 2500 visitors a week approaching us for a wide range of enquiries from paying their council tax to seeking help to access services and dedicated support teams who process bookings, timesheets and general administration work for the whole organisation.
You may be based in one of several locations, we have a Customer Service Centre right in the heart of the city; Friargate – a large purpose built office by the train station along with several reception points across the city.

As an experienced Executive Support Officer, you’ll be at the heart of this work, working within Children’s Services supporting two Strategic Leads who are responsible for early help and protection and quality assurance. The nature of the work is sensitive and highly confidential. Also, supporting senior managers and elected members to deliver outstanding results and realise the opportunities that these changes offer.
You’ll have excellent organisational skills, be great with IT (able to prepare presentations, reports and analyse data), you’ll understand what you need to do to create positive and productive relationships and above all you’ll have a truly ‘can do’ “One Coventry” approach in all that you carry out.

We are a team of 19 Executive Support Officers who all work in a collaborative open and honest manner, we are supportive of each other, and we have an excellent method of sharing best practice in all that we do. Recently we were voted for “Leading by Example” in the West Midlands PA Forum and one of our team won “Best Newcomer in Role” at this event, something we are immensely proud of. Any new recruit to our team will have a very comprehensive induction and support to help them integrate into their new role.

Closing date is 10th August 2022. Assessment will consist of a two stage process; a competency based interview with successful candidates at that stage invited in for a technical test and an in-tray exercise.
Candidates that have been though a Customer Services ESO assessment in the last 12 months need not apply.Who are we looking for?
