Are you interested in ICT? Do you enjoy helping people? If so, then an apprenticeship in Warwickshire County Council’s Schools ICT Development Service might be perfect for you. 

 

The Schools ICT Development service is fully traded, operating under the Warwickshire Education Services banner, and provides a broad range of IT services to over 200 schools across Warwickshire and beyond. 

 

About the Role

 

In this role you will work as part of a small Service Desk Team providing ICT Support services to schools. 

 

General role responsibilities will include: 

 

    Receiving, logging and handling requests for support and providing information to enable problem resolution and promptly allocating unresolved calls as appropriate.  Carrying out routine monitoring, logging and reporting tasks, taking defined action on simple problems. Reporting unforeseen or exceptional events to supervisor. Carrying out and observing all associated administrative and clerical procedures.  Following agreed procedures and under supervision, receiving and handling requests for information, and providing routine advice to users on systems, products and services which are available to them.  Under supervision assisting users to make more effective use of desktop systems, products and services, making initial diagnosis of problems and advising known solutions where applicable.   Assisting in investigating and overcoming simple problems.  Any other general administrative duties as directed by supervisor. 
 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end? 

 

Full training will be provided for all aspects of this role, and you will also be able to take advantage of the extensive training course opportunities open to all Warwickshire County Council staff. The skills, knowledge and behaviours learned on the job will enable you to complete the Level 3 Information Communication Technician apprenticeship for which you will be given time to complete in your working hours and through training provided by Warwickshire College Group. What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship? 

 

By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have acquired the skills and knowledge to be able to apply for an ICT job role within the ICT Development Service or another appropriate area of IT, subject to performance and the availability of a further role. We provide substantial support to all our apprentices to ensure those who complete also stay with the Council after their apprenticeship.
