This is a Housing Officer role with the Complex Case and Care Leaver team aimed at sustaining new tenancies by providing one to one support and achieving positive outcomes to new and existing tenants at risk of tenancy failure. The role will include managing and supervising staff and visiting tenants.

The role involves case managing new tenants who are at risk of not managing their tenancy, determining the level of support needed to enable them to maintain their tenancies and make improvements to their circumstances and well-being including advice and support on settling into the property, advice on benefits, budgeting and making referrals for on-going or specialist support where needed.

You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, have an ability to work flexibly due to competing demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members to ensure successful outcomes. Finding the right person is critical to our future success. We are looking for someone who is able to be empathetic and respond to sensitive issues effectively, but who is firm when necessary. You will need to use your own initiative to resolve issues, and to be able to work under pressure in a very demanding environment.

We are looking for people who:
• Have excellent communication skills
• Have good planning and organisation skills
• Are accurate and attentive to detail
• Are confident using Microsoft Office and databases
• Are empathetic and able to deal with customers in a sensitive and appropriate manner in a demanding environment
• Have a knowledge of working within the social housing sector and more specifically in the area of sustaining tenancies

For informal enquires please contact Muna Masood via email Muna.Masood@birmingham.gov.uk
