An excellent opportunity has arisen to take on a new challenge and develop additional skills, we are looking for a Business Support Officer in our Education Business Support Team (EBST).

We are a new team supporting the staff who work with schools and other agencies to provide appropriate education for all children and young people in Solihull, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Our team provides high quality customer-focused administrative support, initially to our school improvement advisors, so experience in a school setting would be advantageous but not essential. As Business Support Officer, you will work within the team to provide a confidential administrative and financial service to staff across the Inclusion and Access Division; and where necessary to schools and the wider council working with the division.
You will need to be a strong communicator, an excellent team player and be able to manage a varied workload in order to meet relevant deadlines. The role includes organising meetings and training sessions, maintaining databases, processing financial transactions and communicating with school staff and governors to assist with queries.
You will have:

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade A* – C) or a NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent) or the ability to demonstrate experience which enables you to carry out the full range of duties.
• Experience of working in a customer-focused office environment
• The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with people at all levels
• Experience of prioritising work to meet multiple deadlines
In return, you will have the opportunity to work within a friendly team where your contribution will be valued, and you will have the opportunity to support our provision in delivering the best education possible for all children and young people in the borough.
Working for Solihull means that we can also offer employees a great working environment, together with a range of flexible working options, an extensive wellbeing offer, as well as attractive staff benefits to include:

• A range of flexible working options,
• Generous annual leave entitlements with the opportunity to purchase up to 10-days additional leave per year
• A flexitime scheme with up to 24 days per year
• Access to our Employee Assistance Programme – a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service
• Family and carer friendly policies
• Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
• Employee benefits including staff discounts, subsidised travel passes and Cycle 2 Work Scheme

We are currently implementing our Smarter Ways of Working as we recognise that work is what you do and not necessarily where you go. Our aim is to balance the needs of our employees with service delivery and, for this role, that is likely to include a combination working from our Council House offices and working from home.

Whilst this opportunity is being advertised on a full-time basis, requests for part time working or job share arrangements will be considered.
