Job Details

Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) is a shared service delivering Environmental Health functions (food safety, health and safety and many aspects of pollution control) and Licensing administration on behalf of the six district councils in Worcestershire.

Would you like to broaden your experience within an intelligence led Environmental Health service nationally recognised for its excellence and innovative work?

As a key member of staff the focus of this role will be on contaminated land work. However duties will vary from time to time and you may be required to participate in Acoustics, air quality management, planning advice and environmental permitting functions within Worcestershire across a range of partners and stakeholders including external clients. Your day will be varied requiring highly developed problem solving and interpersonal skills across all six partner District Councils each with its own unique character. You will be actively involved in our income generation projects giving wide, varied and satisfying experiences beyond our everyday boundaries.

Have good communication skills both written and oral. Work on own initiative with the minimum of supervision. Able to use appropriate equipment provided for the post. Good report writing skills. The ability to maintain confidentiality. Good basic computer skills including a working knowledge of Word, Excel and use of the internet. You will need to be a self motivated science graduate capable of working both in a team and independently applying good judgement to help customers and businesses resolve their problems.

Experience of dealing with members of the public. Experience of working within a regulatory service. Have practical knowledge of issues and legislation relating to contaminated land, acoustics, LAQM and environmental health. Knowledge of practices and procedures relating to regulatory services. Knowledge of legal process and practice. Tactful and able to demonstrate discretion and confidentiality and act in a professional manner at all times.

A full, valid driving license or the ability to travel during the course of work when necessary.
