Post: SEND Learning Support Assistant

Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Term time only (39 weeks; 38 weeks + 5 Inset Days) Working Monday to Friday 8.45am to 1.15pm

Salary: Warwickshire NJC Scale F Spine Point 7-10 £20444-£22129 pro rata for hours and weeks worked

Contract Type: Fixed Term to 31st August 2023

Oakfield Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our dynamic team of committed Learning Support Assistants to assist in promoting the learning and personal development of pupils who have a range of complex SEND & SEMH needs to enable them to make best use of the educational opportunities available. The role will require you to work both in the classroom with the pupil in small groups and 1:1 to work on specific targets set by the Class Teacher, Pastoral Lead and SENDco.

Candidates should have:

· Have a flexible approach to working, with the ability to read situations and respond effectively

· Works well within a team

· Displays a positive and proactive attitude to all aspects of school life

· Displays initiative and ability to work independently

· Is enthusiastic and dynamic

· Be resilient, with a sense of humour

· Have a calm and patient manner

· Be imaginative with the ability to adapt activities to engage an interest helping with their participation and inclusion

· Use praise, commentary, and assistance to encourage the pupil to concentrate and stay on task

· Be instrumental in the planning and implementation of the pupils individual learning plan liaising with the Class Teacher, Pastoral Lead and SENDco and other professionals

· Helping to make appropriate resources to support pupils

· To establish supportive relationships with the pupils concerned and parents/carers

· To promote the acceptance and inclusion of the pupils with SEN, encouraging pupils to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner

· To provide regular feedback on the pupil’s learning and behaviour to the teacher, Pastoral Lead and SENDco, including feedback on the effectiveness of the learning strategies adopted

· Be willing to undertake additional training as directed by the Headteacher, Pastoral Lead and SENCDco

· Be committed to the welfare and safeguarding of all pupils
