‘Outstanding’ ‘Superb’ ‘ Ambitious’ – just a few words to describe Telford & Wrekin Council from recent peer reviews by experts from across the country. Our Council is proud of the fact that we constantly strive to deliver for local people. Does your CV say that you are a driven individual, passionate about achieving results that ensure customer satisfaction? Does it prove that you are task focused with an attention to detail? If it also says that you are a great team player, we want to hear from you.

If you want to be part of this high performing Council, share our ethos and values and have a background in Procurement or Finance, please call either Sarah Bass  01952 382470 or Stacey Norwood on 01952 388910 for a chat about the role.

The Commissioning, Procurement and Brokerage Team support and manage procurement for corporate and vulnerable people service delivery areas and broker services for vulnerable people. We support colleagues across the Council to scope plan and deliver their procurement through a variety of routes. We work with operational colleagues, wider team members and service providers to source and broker care and support solutions for vulnerable people through robust contracts in and outside the Borough. The team is key in supporting the whole Council to achieve services and solutions through Procurement and Brokering which focus on best value outcomes for the residents of the Borough.

This is an exciting time to be part of the new Health & Social Care reforms that see ‘people at the Health of Care’. You will help deliver on this vision by carrying out and advising on the full range of procurement and contracting services and contract management. One of your key roles will be to help support and shape our care market working closely with existing providers as we move through the Fair Cost of Care process and encouraging new providers to join us to meet the changing market requirements. You can expect to work in a hybrid manner with time spent working in the office, with providers at their premises and at home creating what we believe to be work/life balance offer. You will work closely with Council wide colleagues to promote sound constitutional governance and Public Contract Regulation compliance through day to day activity and through wider networks. The role will also see you working on behalf of other public sector authorities especially Shropshire Telford & Wrekin CCG and on occasion work outside set office hours. You will have a sound understanding of the legislation relating to your area of Places procurement which will include market knowledge of social care providers, community health services, voluntary and community organisations and any other transferable skills to this area.

As an experienced team player, your support and close working relationship with the wider Procurement and Brokerage Team will be invaluable to ensure the whole team is always able to respond and support our internal and external customers.

You must possess or be working towards a relevant qualification in procurement or equivalent and have a good knowledge of public procurement legislation alongside a proven track record of delivering projects, service improvements and change. You must be able to tell us how your skills make you the right person to join our team and continue and build on the quality service we provide
